4、mber2005atabout15:00 hours,afirebrokeoutinthecommonliftlobbyareaonthe6th floorofGoldenCrownCourtinNathanRoad.ThefiremenarrivedandbrokeintoUnit B1thereofinordertoensurethatnoonewasinsidetheproperty.Thispropertywasjointlyownedbythe2nd plaintiffs,Mr andMrs Ho,whooperatedHo’sFashionLim

5、ited,i.e. the1st plaintiff.The1st plaintiffalsoownedtheneighbouringUnit A.Thefirewascausedbythe3rd defendantwhohadwrongfullyandnegligentlycutoffagaspipeinsteadofawaterpipejustoppositetoandoutsidetheentranceofUnit B1.Hewasemployedbythe4th defendantwhointurnwasthesub-contractorofthe2

6、nd defendantincarryingouttherenovationworksofthebuilding.Judgmenthasalreadybeenenteredagainstthe2nd,3rdand4th defendants,andthistrialisonlyconcernedwiththeliabilityofthe1st defendant,i.e. theIncorporatedOwnersofGoldenCrownCourt(“theIO”).AfterthetrialIhavedecidedthattherewasnoliabil
