3、me’sSnowWhitefromapostmodernismperspectivebyaddressingitssalientfeaturesofanti-traditionalcharacterrevisionaswellasmassiveusageofpostmodernismtechniques.Thepost-WorldWarIIageaboundsinreconstructingandrewritingworks,especiallypopulararetherewritingofcanonical
4、fairytales.Nevertheless,theriseofcanonrewritingdatesbacktoasearlyasthe1960s,whenRonaldBarthelme,thetypicalpostmodernist,publishedhismilestone-likenovelSnowWhite,aparodyofGermanGrimms’SnowWhiteandSevenDwarfs.Barthelme’sSnowWhiteformssharpcontrasttotheoriginal
5、fairytale,provokesdeepthoughtsfromreadersandthusisenlistedintobestcanon-rewritingnovels.AcanonrewritingviewofBarthelme’sSnowWhiteisessentiallyinnovativeandimportanttoliteraryresearch.Hence,thisthesisseeksasanexplorationtofulfillthemission.Altogetherthethesis
