2、ican,Latinos,Asian-Americanandotherminoritygroupshavebeendiscriminatedinmanyaspects.Racialdiscriminationisanever-out-of-datetopicandafterMartinLutherKing’sfamousspeechwasheardbytheworld,theanti-discriminationcampaignisnolongeronlythebusinessofblackpeopleinAmerica,butalso
3、becomesthewholeworld’ssoundsofheart.Butthatisnotenough.Ifwetakeafurtherstepandlookatitdeeper,wewillfindourselvesinthepositionwheremanyproblemsarewaitingaheadandtheworldisfarfrombeingtheidealisticworldwearelongingfor.Theblacksexistasaminorrace,buttheircontributiontoAmeric
4、a’sdevelopmentcannotbedevaluated.Althoughtheyareminorrace,theirpopulationtakesup12.2%ofthewholepopulationofAmerica(Robey1987:131).FromtheangleofpopulationwecanseethattheblackshavedonemuchworkintheAmericanlabormarket.BesidestheirsignificanceinthedevelopmentoftheAmericanec
5、onomy,theirroleintheurbanizationcannotbeneglected,either.SincetheCivilWar,thousandsoftheblacksimmigratedtothecitiesintheNorthandtheWest.In1960Washingtonwastheonlycityinwhichtheblacks’populationtookuphalfofthewholepopulation.Butin1980,thenumberofthiskindofcityhadincreased
6、to9.Thissocialphenomenonwascalledas“BlackUrbanization”.BlackUrbanizationacceleratedtheprocessofthemeltingoftheblacksandthewhites.Sincetheracialdiscriminationisthebusinessofthewholeworld,itisnecessarytostudytheoriginoftheracialdiscrimination.Asanationofimmigrants,theUnite
7、dStateshasapopulationwhichconsistsofmanydifferentracialandethicgroups.Oneoftheseethicsistheblacks.Theblacksledapeacefulandhappylifeuntilthefirstintrudersbegantheirdirtyandbloodyhuman-tradingbusiness.Sincethe17thcentury,theblackswereshippedtoAmericaandthetotalnumberwasupt
