2、.[2]Thetermrecognisesthatlearningisnotconfinedtochildhoodortheclassroom,buttakesplacethroughoutlifeandinarangeofsituations.Duringthelastfiftyyears,constantscientificandtechnologicalinnovationandchangehashadaprofoundeffectonlearningneedsandstyles.Learningcannolongerbedividedinto
3、aplaceandtimetoacquireknowledge(school)andaplaceandtimetoapplytheknowledgeacquired(theworkplace).[3]LearningeconomyLifelonglearningmaybemostusefullythoughtofasapolicyresponsebylargelywesterngovernmentstoachangingworld.Theseunderlyingchangesareamoveawayfrommanufacturingtoaservic
4、eseconomy,theemergenceoftheknowledgeeconomyandthedeclineofmanytraditionalinstitutionswhichhasbeenrequiringindividualstobecomemoreactiveinmanagingtheirlives.[4]Thishasledtotherealizationthatformallearning,typicallyconcentratedintheearlierstagesoflife,cannolongersustainanindividu
5、althroughouttheirlife.InabookbyChristopherDay,publishedin1998,DevelopingTeachers:TheChallengeofLifelongLearning,therewasrecognitiontowardstheroleofteachersininculcatinglifelonglearningintheformalteachingsofhis/herstudentswhileatthesametimerealisingtheneedforteacherstopracticeli
6、felonglearning,inordertodevelopthemselvesaswell.Throughthisrealisation,thatthroughoutateachers/educatorsprofessionalbeing,lifelonglearningisamust[1].InOctober2006theEuropeanCommissionpublishedaCommunicationentitled"Adultlearning:Itisnevertoolatetolearn."[2]Thisdocumentsuggestsl
7、ifelonglearningtobethecoreoftheambitiousLisbon2010-process,inwhichthewholeoftheEuropeanUnionshouldbecomealearningarea.InDecember2007,theEuropeanParliament'sCommitteonCultureandEducationpublisheda"ReportonAdultlearning:Itisnevertoolatetolearn",whichrecognizedtheCommissionCommuni
