5、ndwelfareofallstaffinschoolsasfarasisreasonablypracticable.Thisincludesthepsychologicalandemotionalwell-beingofstaffinschoolsaswellastheirphysicalgoodhealth.Theguidanceaimstohelpschoolssecurethewell-beingandeffectivenessoftheirstaffinordertocreatethebestpossiblecondi

6、tionsforthedevelopmentandachievementofchildrenandyoungpeople.Everygoverningbodyhasastatutorydutytoensurestaffhaveanappropriatework/lifebalance.ThisisunderpinnedbylegislationsuchasHealthandSafetyatWorkAct1974,WorkingTimeDirective1998andtheEmploymentRelationsAct1999.Th

7、erearealsoclearguidelinesonwork/lifebalanceinthenationalagreementonraisingstandardsandtacklingworkloadandtheSchoolTeachers’PayandConditionsDocument(STPCD).Headteachers,managersandGovernorsshouldreadthisstaffwell-beingpolicyandguidanceandapplyitinmeetingtheircollectiv
