3、aenteredtheWorldWarI,HemingwayvolunteeredtoserveasanambulancedriverwiththeAmericanRedCross.Shortlyafterreachingthefrontlines,hewaswoundedinthelegsandtransferredtoahospitalinMilanwherehemetanurse.In1929,HemingwaydrewuponhisWorldWarIexperiencesforhissecondnovel,AFarewelltoArms.Itstragiclovestorywas
