4、thepresenceofgreatness.Forexample,ThePickwickPapersgivesarathercomprehensivepictureoftheEnglishsocietyofDickens1time,andtheblendingofhumourwithsatire,plusthebrilliantportraitsofPickwickandSamWellermakethebookdeservedlythefirstimportantworkofDickens.Inhisworks,Dickensgivesupamostvividpicture
5、oftheeverydaylifeoftheordinarypeopleofhistime.Hecreatedalargenumberofcharacters,welldrawn,fulloflifeandunforgettable.Hehadsufferedsobitterlyhimselfasachildandhadseensomuchevilthatheburnedwiththedesiretofightittotheend.Inmanyways,ofcourse,hestillbelongedtohisageandshowedthelimitsofpetty-bour
