2、blethreeshiftrunning,highuptimeandlowrunningcosts.OveralongtimetheCO2gaslaserhasdominatedthehighpowermaterialprocessingareaandstillholdswith41.1%thebiggestmarketshareinthatfield.Themostmodern,mostreliableandmostcostefficienttypeofCO2laseristhediffusioncooledslabconfiguration,whichprovidesalmos
3、tdiffractionlimitedbeamqualityandisnowadaysavailableinapowerrangeupto8kW.Theadvantageofsolidstatelasersisthattheirradiationcanbeguidedthroughopticalfibers,buttheysufferedfromhighcostandlowefficiency.Theappearanceofdiodelasersasaveryefficientandreliablepumpingsource,however,hasboostedsolidstate
4、lasertechnology.Notonlythebeamqualityandefficiencyoftheclassicalroddesigncouldbeimprovedbyreplacingbroadbandlampsbymonochromaticdiodelasersbutfurthermore,becauseofthehighbrillianceofthediodelasers,newconceptsasthethindiscandthefiberlasercouldberealized.Especiallythehigherefficiency,reducingthe
