3、October2006AbstractThepropertiesofmineralsuspensionsdonotevolvelinearlywithparticlemassfraction.Forsomecriticalconcentrationsthesepropertiesareabruptlymodifiedduetoachangeofrelativeinterparticleinteractionforceprevalence.Usingkaolinandglassbeadsasmodelmaterials,phy
4、sico-chemicalstabilityandrheologicalmeasurementhavebeencarriedoutinordertoproposeaglobalanddiscriminantparameterenablingthenatureofparticleinteractionstobeidentified.Differenttypesofsuspensionswerestudiednamely:dilutedsuspensions,concentratedsuspensionsandsolidsusp
5、ensions.Physico-chemicalstability,studiedbyopticaldispersionanalysis(TurbiscanMA2000)enablestheclarificationratetobemeasuredandtoproposeanewglobalparameter,the“phaseseparationindex”.Inaddition,rheologicalanalysiswasrealizedbythemeansofviscousflowmeasurement.Behaviou
