5、es.Two-liquid-phasebioreactorshavethepotentialtoresolvebothlimitationsofbiotreatmenttechnologiesbytheenhancementofthemass-transferrateofcompoundswithlowbioavailability,andbythecontrolleddeliveryofapolartoxiccompounds.Thistechnologycanalsobeusefulinacceleratingtheenrichmentofmicroorgan
6、ismsdegradingproblematicpollutants.Inthispaper,wediscusstheapplicationoftwo-liquid-phasebioreactorstoenhancethebiodegradationoftoxic/poorlybioavail-ablecontaminants.Importantmicrobialmechanismsinvolvedinthistypeofsystemaredescribed.Uptakeofthesubstratescanbeachievedbymicroorganismsfre
