5、hclassesandmanynon-EnglishmajorstostudyspokenEnglish.AlthoughtheenthusiasmoflearningspokenEnglishhasincreased,theoralEnglishproficiencyofcollegestudentsisfarfromsatisfactory,muchChinglishbeingproducedintheiroralwork.Tosomeextent,Chinglishisverydestructive.Itm
6、ayadverselyaffectcross-culturalcommunicationandthequalityoforalexpression.Ifitoccursoften,itmayleadtocommunicativefailures.GeChuangguiwasthefirstscholarwhoproposedtheterms“Chinglish”and“ChinaEnglish”inhisessayOnChinesetoEnglishTranslation(1984);inwhichhemakes
7、adistinctionbetweenChinglishandChinaEnglish.SinceGe,manyscholarshavealsoillustratedtheirpointofview.DengYanchang(1989:150)oncesaidthat“ChinglishisaspeechorwritinginEnglishthatshowstheinterferenceorinfluenceofChinese,somesentencesbeinglittlemorethanwordtowordt
