3、istently,andtomaketherightchoices.Corporateintegrity?Inmanyrespects,corporateintegrity—theethicsandcorevaluesofabusinessenterprise—isnothingmorethanindividualintegritywritlarge.Peopleexpectbusinessorganizationstohavevalues,toactaccordingtotheirvaluesina
4、consistentmanner,andtomaketherightchoiceswherethepublicgoodisatoddswithcorporateself-interest.Thisexpectationhaslongappliedtothecorporation’sofficialacts:howitaccountsforrevenues,whatbusinesspracticesitencouragesorcondones,andwhatissaysinitsannualreport
5、s.Fromnowon,expectationsofhighintegrityaregoingtobemorerigorouslyappliedtothepersonalactsofcorporateleaders,especiallyCEOs.Thisbroaderdefinitionofcorporateintegrityisaresultoftwoperceivedrealities:first,theexposureofmisbehaviorandexcessesofafewCEOs,ands

Corporateleadersareincreasinglybeingheldaccountableforthepersonalbehaviorofallmembersoftheirorganization.
Corporateleaders,especiallyCEOs,areplacedinanimpossibleposition.Likepublicelectedand
