2、edparticipantsincluded20evaluationandeducationexpertswithavarietyoftribalaffiliationsandexperienceinfederalagencies,nationalorganizations,universitiesandschoolsacrosstheUnitedStates(seeparticipantbiographiesinAppendixC).Forthelastdecade,NSFhasbeenconcernedwithincreasingthecapacityofthef

3、ieldtoprovidehighqualityevaluationservices.InJune2000,NSFheldaworkshoptodiscussissuesrelatedtoincreasingthesupplyofminorityevaluatorsformathematicsandscienceprogramsandprojects.Withthisworkshop,NSFcontinuedthisdialogueaimedatdescribingtheextentoftheproblem,developinganetworktoidentifyan

4、dshareinformationaboutavailableresourcematerials,compilinglistsofNativeAmericanevaluationprofessionalsandidentifyingtrainingandeducationalopportunities.TheNSFAssistantDirectorforEHR,andseniorstafffromtheDivisionofResearch,EvaluationandCommunication,andtheDivisionofEducationalSystemRefor

5、mdeliveredopeningremarksandframedthemeeting’spurpose.ANativeAmericanElderalsowelcomedtheworkshopparticipants.Twoinvitedpapersessionsandonebreakoutgroupsessionfollowed,organizedaroundthreemajorthemes:•EvaluationissuesrelatingtotheacademicachievementofNativeAmericanstudents;•Education/tra

6、iningopportunitiesforNativeAmericanevaluators;and•Developing,maintainingandexpandinganetworkofNativeAmericanevaluators.Thegoaloftheworkshopwastoofferdirectionforfutureplanningofevaluationsandresearchactivities,andtofocusoncapacitybuildingwithinthefieldofeducationalevaluation.Thisreportp
