3、icfieldstructure.Themodeltestsdemonstratethat,forthecylindricalfluxroperegardlessofwhetheritisforce-freeornot,themethodcanconsistentlyyieldtheaxisorientationofthefluxropewithhigheraccuracyandstabilitythantheminimumvarianceanalysisofthemagneticfieldandtheGrad-Shafranovreconstruct
4、iontechnique.Moreover,theradialdistancetotheaxiscenterandthecurrentdensitycanalsobeestimatedconsistently.ApplicationtotwoactualfluxtransfereventsobservedbythefoursatellitesoftheClustermissiondemonstratesthatthemethodismoreappropriatetobeusedfortheinnerpartoffluxrope,whichmight
5、beclosertothecylindricalstructure,showinggoodagreementwiththeresultsobtainedfromtheoptimalGrad-ShafranovreconstructionandtheleastsquarestechniqueofFaraday’slaw,butfailstoproducesuchagreementfortheoutersatellitethatgrazesthefluxrope.Therefore,themethodmustbeusedwithcaution.Cit
