4、bstractArticlehistory:Fourdouble-strandedRNAs(dsRNAs),referredtoasdsRNA1(3617bp),dsRNA2(2794bp),dsRNA3Received13July2008(2576bp)anddsRNA4(1420bp),weredetectedintheEGS35-193strainofAlternariaalternataathighReceivedinrevisedformconcentration(∼3g/gdrie

5、dmycelium).Thisstrainhadanimpairedgrowthphenotype.Byexposingthe30November2008straintocycloheximideduringhyphaltipisolation,weisolatedstrainswhichhadnormalmycelialgrowthAccepted4December2008andpigmentation,inwhichdecreasedlevelsofthedsRNAswereobserved

6、(∼0.3g/gdriedmycelium).Availableonline15January2009TheseresultsindicatethatthisdsRNAmycovirusmightbeinvolvedinmodulatingtraitsofitsfungalhost,A.alternata.Thebuoyantdensityofisometricvirusparticles(about33nmindiameter)containingKeywords:thesedsRNAsin

7、CsClwas1.35–1.40g/cm3dependingonthesizeofthepackageddsRNAs.ThedsRNA1MycovirusdsRNAelementsencodesasingleopenreadingframe(3447nt)containingtheconservedmotifsofviralRNA-dependentAlternariaalternataRNApolymerase(RdRp),whichisrelatedtotheORFencodedbydsRN

8、A1ofAspergillusmycovirus341.RNA-dependentRNApolymeraseItisnoteworthythatallofthecodingstrandsofthefourdsRNAgenomeshave3-poly(A)tailsrangingVirusparticlesfrom33to50ntinlength.WenamedthisnoveldsRNAmycovirusintheEGS35-193strainA.alternatavirus-1(AaV-1)
