4、tates,Europe,andelsewhere.Likeitornot,thenewcultureisnetworkedandopensource,andoneisinneedofintelligentinterventionstoevaluateit.Intheyearssinceitsoriginalpublicationin2001,LevManovich’sTheLanguageofNewMediahasbecomeoneofthemostreadandcitedtextsonthetopic.2Itisakeyentryinthedisciplinesofpoeticsan
5、dculturalaesthetics,andhashelpeddefinethenewfieldofsoftwarestudies.Thebookisnotwithoutitslimitations,however,andperhapstodayonemaybegintore-evaluatethetextwiththefresheyesofhistoricaldistance,andthroughitreassesstherampantopensourcingofallaspectsofculturalandaestheticlife,fromourtoolstoourtexts,f
