3、equalityoftheirCSRreportinghashardlyimprovedinthelastfiveyears(Elkington,2003).Atthesameconference,SimonZadekofAccountabilityarguesthatneithertheseCSRprogrammesnortheirreportingprocedureshaveasignificantimpactonbusinessdecisionmaking(Zadek,2002).WereportonaquantitativestudyofCSRreportingam

4、onganumberofleadingFTSEcompanies(thetop150FTSE4GooD1companies)toexplorethenatureandscopeoftheirCSRstakeholderrelationshipsandreporting.ThestudytestssixhypothesesbaseduponaframeworkforunderstandingCSRpracticeswhichwedevelopedthroughanexploratorystudy(MaklanandKnox,2003).Weconcludethatonlyth

5、ebiggestoftheseFTSEcompanies,particularlyextractioncompaniesandtelecoms,canclaimtoidentify,prioritiseandcommunicatewiththeirCSRstakeholders.However,themajorityarenowreportingdetailsofthesocialoutcomeslinkedtotheirCSRprogrammesbutthereportingofbusinessoutcomesislimitedtothelargestofFTSEcomp

6、anies.WethendiscussthemanagementissueswhichneedtoberesolvedifthegeneralperceptionofCSRistochangefrombeingregardedmainlyasanexpensiveexerciseincomplianceandreportingtoanimportantcontributorofsustainablebusinessdevelopment.Finally,wehighlightthelimitationsofourstudyandmakesuggestionsforfutur
