4、er.First,wepresentanewheuristicforfeaturedetection,andusingmachinelearningwederiveafeaturedetectorfromthiswhichcanfullyprocesslivePALvideousinglessthan5%oftheavailableprocessingtime.Bycomparison,mostotherdetectorscannotevenoperateatframerate(Harrisdetector115%,SIFT195%).S
5、econd,wegeneralizethedetector,allowingittobeoptimizedforrepeatability,withlittlelossofefficiency.Third,wecarryoutarigorouscomparisonofcornerdetectorsbasedontheaboverepeatabilitycriterionappliedto3Dscenes.Weshowthatdespitebeingprincipallyconstructedforspeed,onthesestringent
6、tests,ourheuristicdetectorsignificantlyoutperformsexistingfeaturedetectors.Finally,thecomparisondemonstratesthatusingmachinelearningproducessignificantimprovementsinrepeatability,yieldingadetectorthatisbothveryfastandveryhighquality.IndexTermsCornerdetection,featuredetectio
