1、AbstractInthispaper,thecurrentstatusofwaterresourcesandwaterutilizationstatusinNanchongin2008wasanalyzedbyusingthefixedquotasmethodandwaterbalancemethod；combiningwiththelocaleconomicandsocialstatusanddevelopmentstrategy,thewatersupplyanddemandsituatio

2、nWasanalyzedsystematically；furthermore，theauthorperformedthedetailedstrategiesandcountermeasuresforsustainableutilizationofwaterresourcesinNanchong．(1)ThetotalamountofwaterresourcesinNanchongwas47．26x108m3in2008，andtheaveragewaterresourceswas12m3perpe

3、rson．Becauseofitsunevenspatialandtemporaldistribution，severeinterannualchanges，discordancebetweentheindustryconfigurationandthegeographicaldistribution，seasonaldroughtandregionalwatershortageswasoccurredfrequently．Atthesametime，lackofprotectionandrati

4、onalutilizationofwaterresources，andwaterpollution,soilerosionwasexisted，whichstrengthenedthesituationofdroughtandwatershortage，andevenfloodssometimes(2)Thewaterefficiencywas17．7％in2008inNanchong，whichislowerthanthatofthenationalaverage(20％)watereffici

5、ency．Theactualirrigationefficiencyonlyreachedthe70％ofdesignedcapacity；theannualaveragewaterconsumptionwas12m3perperson；thewaterconsumptionforeverytenthousandGDP(currentprices)was139m．TheamountofwaterconsumptionforagriculturalirrigationWas2790m3／hm2／a；

6、theaveragewaterconsumptionwas130L／dperpersoninurban，and55L／dperpersonincountryside．Shcngzhongreservoirisonlythelargestlarge-scalewaterconservancy,andisanirrigation—basedregulatingReservoir；thecatchmentareawas1756kmZ；thetotalstoragecapacityWas13．39x108

7、m3，andthewaterstoragecapacityWas10．007x108m3，theirrigationareawas12．61x104hm2．(3)Basedonthestatusofeconomicdevelopment,inhabitantliving，industry,andecologicaldevelopment，thewaterdemandinNanchongWasforecasted．Theresultsshowedthattotalwaterdemandindiffe
