3、herearevarioustypesofdatatrafficwithdifferenttrafficcharacteristics.Inthisthesis,weproposeaschemetodesignaWDMnetworkthatwillaccommodateasmuchtrafficaspossibleagainstavarietyoftrafficpatterns,thatis,robustWDMnetwork.Ourstraightforwardwaytomeetthisobjectiveistode-signanetwo

4、rktomaximizethevolumeoffuturetrafficflow.Toachievethissimply,wedividetheWDMnetworkdesignproblemintotwosubproblems,theOXCdeploymentproblemandthefiberdeploymentproblem.Inbothproblems,weproposeschemestomaximizethevolumeoftrafficdemandthatcanbeaccommodatedinthefuturebytakingi

5、ntoaccountthemaximumflowvalueofeachnodepair.WehandlethoseproblemsbyincrementallyextendingnetworkresourcesbasedontheADDalgorithm.BydeployingnetworkresourcesuntiltheyreachaconditionthatarobustWDMnetworkneedstoful-fill,wecandesignarobustWDMnetwork.Wecompareourproposedschem

6、ewiththeexistingmethodusingvarioustrafficmatrices.TheresultsshowthattheWDMnetworkdesignedbyourmethodaccommodatesallthetrafficdemand,whiletheone,designedbytheexisitingmethodwiththesamecost,cannotaccommodate20%ofthetrafficdemand.1KeywordsWDM(WavelengthDivisionMultiplexing)
