3、es.ScholarlydiscussionsinChinahavefocusedonvariousaspectsofthecurrentELTcurriculuminnovation.However,muchofthediscussionsandcritiqueoftheEnglishcurriculuminnovationremainsconceptualortheoreticalinnature,ratherthanonsystematicanalysesofactualclassroompractices.Therefo
4、re,somescholarshavearguedthatintheELTresearchfieldmoreattentionhasbeengiventopolicyformulationattheexpenseofimplementationstage.Inotherwords,bothcurriculumdevelopersandscholarshavetoooftenfocusedtheirattentionandenergyonthe‘what’ofdesiredcurriculuminnovationandneglec
5、tedthe‘how’.Asaresult,littleisknownaboutwhetherthesecondaryschoolEnglishteachershaveembracedtheprinciplesoftheintendedcurriculuminnovation,andhaveimplementedthemintheirsecondaryschoolclassroompedagogicalpractices.Tofillthisresearchgap,thecurrentstudyisdevelopedtoexam
6、inetherelationshipbetweentheintendedELTcurriculuminnovationandhowitisimplementedinactualsecondaryschoolEnglishclassrooms.ThisexaminationcancontributetoourbetterunderstandingoftheeffectivenessandcomplexityofthesecondaryschoolELTcurriculumimplementationprocessontheoneh
