3、alityandcosteffectiveness.Theimportanceofdesigningsystemsandenvironmentsthatareassafeaspossibletoeducateandtrainpersonnelisvitalforthechemicalprocessindustries.Virtualrealityoffersthepotentialtoexposepersonneltohazardoussituationsinasafe,highlyvisualandinteractivemanner.Virtualrealityhasbe

4、enproposedasatechnologicalbreakthroughthatholdsthepowertofacilitatelearning.Theabilitytovisualisecomplexanddynamicsystemsinvolvingpersonnel,equipmentandlayoutsduringanyrealoperationisapotentialadvantageofsuchanapproach.Virtualrealityandmultimediatrainingiscommonlyusedinmanyindustries,aidin

5、gunderstandingandmemoryretentionandcreatingamoreinteractivelearningexperience.Fourdesktopvirtualrealitytrainingenvironmentsweredevelopedforthisresearchwhichhighlightedissuesrelatedtochemicalprocessdynamicsimulationandplantsafety.Thepumptrainingsystemisavirtualrealityenvironment,whichwasbui
