2、iscussedelaborately.Besidesthesesections,theimportanceofmeasureofperformance(MOP)andtheapplicationofthesamewithrespecttoJIT-KANBANarepresented.TherecenttrendsintheJIT-KANBANarediscussedundertheheading“Specialcases”.Inthisreview,100state-of-artresearchpapershavebeensurveyed.The
3、directionsforthefutureworksarealsopresented.1IntroductionJust-In-Time(JIT)manufacturingsystemwasdevelopedbyTaiichiOhnowhichiscalledJapanese“Toyotaproductionsystem”JITmanufacturingsystemhastheprimarygoalofcontinuouslyreducingandultimatelyeliminatingallformsofwastes(Brownetal.[5
4、],Ohno[54],Sugimorietal.[82]).Basedonthisprinciple,Japanesecompaniesareoperatingwithverylowlevelofinventoryandrealizingexceptionallyhighlevelofqualityandproductivity(RichardJ.Tersine[62],JamesH.Greene[30]).JITemphasizes“zeroconcept”whichmeansachievementofthegoalsofzerodefects,
5、zeroqueues，zeroinventories,zerobreakdownandsoon.Itensuresthesupplyofrightpartsinrightquantityintherightplaceandattherighttime.Hence,theoldsystemofmaterialacquisitionand,buyerandsellerrelationshipsarechangedtonewrevolutionaryconcepts(Womacketal.[91],WomackandJones[92],Markeyeta
6、l.[45]).Similarly,JITbecomesaninevitablesystematplantlevel,whichintegratesthecellularmanufacturing,flexiblemanufacturing,computerintegratedmanufacturingandRobotics(Schonberger[63],Golhar[12]).Duetothetechnologicaladvancement,theconventionalmethodofpushproductionsystemlinkedwit
7、hMaterialRequirementPlanning(MRP)waschangedtopulltypeJITproductionsystemtomeetouttheglobalcompetition,wherethework-in-process(WIP)canbemanagedandcontrolledmoreaccuratelythanthepush-productionsystem(MasonPaul[46]).KANBANsystemisanewphilosophy,whichplaysasignificantroleintheJITp
