3、essordefectofabdominalsurroundingwalls.Themainreasonofthisdefectisahigherintra-abdominalpressurethatresultsinherniationattheweakestareaoftheabdominalwall.Syntheticmesheshavebeenusedwiththeobjectiveofdeliveringlong-termreinforcementtothedamagedtissuesoftheabdominalhernia.Mostwidelyusedsyn
4、theticmeshesarepolyester(PET),polytetrafluoroethylene(ePTFE)andpolypropylene(PP).However,amongsyntheticlightweightPPmesheshasbeenusedascurrent―goldstandard‖materialforherniarepair.Nevertheless,themaindrawbackoftheseimplantsisthatallsyntheticdevicesfavorinfectionduetotheuneventopographyof
5、knittedmeshes.Thus,meshinfectionisamajorproblemofcurrentPPknittedmeshesandneedtobecuredinearlystagesofmeshimplantationotherwise;secondaryoperationisimposedtoremoveinfectedmesh.Thecurrentmethodformeshinfectionpreventionafterherniarepairisantibioticprophylaxis.However,PPmeshisahydrophobicm
6、aterialwhichdonotabsorbdrug.Thus,meshinfectionremainsmajorcomplicationofherniarepair.Therefore,useofantimicrobialmeshmaterialwithslowdrugreleasecouldbebetteroptiontopreventinfectionaftermeshimplantation.Therefore,thisstudywasfocusingonpreparationofantimicrobialPPmeshesbyincorporatinganti
