3、llows:everyyear,duringthesummer,Sessions(threeorfourasarule)ondifferentthemesfrompureandappliedmathematicsareofferedbyapplicationtomathematiciansfromallcountries.Eachsessionisgenerallybasedonthreeorfourmaincourses(24¡30hoursoveraperiodof6-8workingdays)heldfromspecialistsofinternation

4、alrenown,plusacertainnumberofseminars.AC.I.M.E.Session,therefore,isneitheraSymposium,norjustaSchool,butmaybeablendofboth.Theaimisthatofbringingtotheattentionofyoungerresearcherstheorigins,laterdevelopments,andperspectivesofsomebranchoflivemathematics.Thetopicsofthecoursesaregenerally

5、ofinternationalresonanceandtheparticipationofthecoursescovertheexpertiseofdifferentcountriesandcontinents.Suchcombination,gaveanexcellentopportu-nitytoyoungparticipantstobeacquaintedwiththemostadvanceresearchinthetopicsofthecoursesandthepossibilityofaninterchangewiththeworldfamousspe
