2、uidesusingtrench-basedsplitters(TBSs)andbends(TBBs).Ratherthana90°geometry,weuse105°TBSstofacilitatereliablefabricationofhighaspectratiotrenchessuitablefor50/50splittingwhenfilledwithSU8.Threedimensional(3D)finitedifferencetimedomain(FDTD)simulationisusedforsplitterandbendd

3、esign.MeasuredTBBandTBSopticalefficienciesare84%and68%,respectively.Compact105°1×4,1×8,and1×32trench-basedsplitternetworks(TBSNs)aredemonstrated.Themeasuredtotalopticallossofthe1×32TBSNis9.15dB.Itssizeisonly700μm×1600μmforanoutputwaveguidespacingof50μm.©2008OpticalSocietyof
