2、8September2007Availableonline22October2007AbstractFormulationsofthereverberationmatrixmethod(RMM)arepresentedforthedynamicanalysisofspacestructureswithmultipletunedmassdampers(MTMD).Thetheoryofgeneralizedinversematricesisthenemployedtoobtainthefrequencyresponseofstructureswithandw
3、ithoutdamping,enablingauniformtreatmentatanyfrequency,includingtheresonantfrequency.Fortransientresponses,theNeumannseriesexpansiontechniqueassuggestedinRMMisfoundtobeconfinedtothepredictionofaccurateresponseatanearlytime.Theartificialdampingtechniqueisemployedheretoevaluatethemediu
4、mandlongtimeresponseofstructures.Thefreevibration,frequencyresponse,andtransientresponseofstructureswithMTMDareinvestigatedbytheproposedmethodthroughseveralexamples.NumericalresultsindicatethattheuseofMTMDcaneffectivelyalterthedistributionofnaturalfrequenciesaswellasreducethefrequ
