3、ChinaAccepted11May2008AbstractThedevelopmentofdistalend-to-sideanastomoticintimalhyperplasia(IH)hasbeenattributedtotheflowdisturbanceandabnormalwallshearstress(WSS)distributionthere.ThegeometryofthebypasshasastronginfluenceontheflowpatternandWSSdistribution.Usingaca
4、ninemodelofend-to-sideanastomosis,a451S-typebypasswascomparedwith601,451and301conventionalbypassesinthetermofIHalongthehostarteryfloor.Numericalbloodflowsimulationswerealsocarriedouttocharacterizetheflowpatternsatthedistalpartsofthebypassedarteriesforthe4models.Ther
5、esultsshowedthattheaveragedintimathicknessesofthehostarteryfloorsforthe4bypassmodelswere119.50710.30mm(601),65.5676.53mm(451),45.2675.99mm(301)and47.6474.85mm(S-type),respectively,vs.9.8171.88mminthecontrolgroup(withoutbypasssurgery).Comparedwiththecontrolgroup,ne
6、ointimathicknessinall4bypassmodelswassignificantlyincreased,buttheneointimathicknessofthe451S-typebypasswasapparentlymuchbetterthanits451conventionalcounterpart,andwasasgoodasthe301conventionalbypass.ThenumericalsimulationrevealedanapparentswirlingflowpatternintheS
7、-typebypass,whichwasverydifferentthantheflowpatternsinthe3conventionalbypassmodels.ThisswirlingflowalteredtheoverallflowpatterninthedistalpartofthebypassedarteryandeliminatedthelowWSSzonealongthehostarteryfloor.TheimprovementinthetermofIHfortheS-typebypassismostlikel
