2、ió8,08003Barcelona,SpainAbstractInthispapertheauthorspresentanoverviewofrecentworkonongoingprojectsattheAudiovisualInstitutefromthePompeuFabraUniversityinBarcelona,focusedonInternetcollaborativevirtualenvironmentsformusicapplications.Althoughpresentingdifferentstra
3、tegies,theyallputaspecialemphasisinperformanceandcomposition/productionofmusicbygroupsofgeographicallydispersedcommunitiesofusers,bothinsynchronousandasynchronousmodes.Itispresentedanoverviewoftheconceptsanddevelopmentsin:TheFMOLprojectthatapproachescollaborativemu
4、siccompositionandperformanceoverthewebinanasynchronousfashioninitsoriginalversion(Jordá,1998,1999),andthatiscurrentlyunderdevelopmentevolvingtoanewarchitecturewithasynchronousparadigmandseveralrelevantnewfeatures(JordàandWüst,2001);ThePublicSoundObjectproject,which
5、consistsonapermanentwebinstallationforcollaborativemusicalperformance,currentlyatpreliminarydevelopmentstage(BarbosaandKaltenbruner,2001).LeagueofAutomaticMusicComposers(Bischoff,Goldand1.IntroductionHorton,1978).Recently,severalconceptsandtechnologiesfromgeneralCS
6、CWwork,havebeenadaptedtothespecificityofarchitecturesdesignedformusicperformanceComputer-SupportedCooperativeWork(CSCW)isoneandproduction.Anexampleisthe1998TransMIDIsystemofthemajorresearchfieldsinmodernsociety,andthethatallowsmusicalperformers(andlisteners)whowish
7、tocurrenttechnologicaladvances,speciallyinInternetplaytogether,toorganizeintomultiplesessiongroupsovercomputing,haveallowedcomputerscienceresearchersandtheinternetusingMIDI(Burk,2000),andwhichhasbeendeveloperstoactuallycreatecollaborativetools,liketextualimplemente
8、dusingtheTransisgroupcommunicationchats,whiteboards,sharededitorsorvideoconferencemulticastcommunicationlayerforCSCWapplications.systemsthatareal
