2、ungarye-mail:szepj@sze.huReceived9January2012;accepted4November2013Abstract:Singlerowpilegroupsaregainingpopularityasfoundationsystemforbothbuildingsandbridges.Theyareareasonableandeconomicalsolutionsforstructureswithlowverticalloadse.g.bridgeabutments.Thelate
3、ralresistanceofapilegroupistheresultofcontactpressurebetweentheindividualpileshaftsandthesoil.Whendesigningthiskindofstructure,theestimationofdisplacementsandbendingmomentsisthemainfocusofthecalculation.InmostcasessinglepilesaremodeledbyassumingaWinklermateria
4、l.Fortheircalculations,designerstypicallyemployoneofthecommonly-usedstructuralFEMcodes(e.g.AxisVM,Fem-Design).Ontheotherhand,advanced,truly3DFEMpackages(likeMIDASGTS,Plaxis3D)areavailable,allowingforrealisticmodelingofthesoilenvironmentandsoil-structureinterac
5、tion.Asanintermediatesolution,packagesbasedontraditionalapproachesarealsoavailable(GEO5,CGU).Inthispaper,resultsobtainedusingthreedifferentcalculationmethodsandpackagesarecompared.Keywords:FEM,Springconstant,Soil-structureinteraction1.SinglerowpilegroupPilesar
6、eisthemostextensively-usedfoundationmethodwhenitisnecessarytocarry,bothverticalandhorizontalloads.Well-establishedmethodsexistforcalculatingtheverticalcapacityofpiles.Numerousmethodsarealsoavailabletocalculatepiledeformations,bendingmomentsandshearforcesduetol
