4、espectroscopy(EIS)fortheinsitucontroloftheelectrolyticcodepositionofNi/SiO2andNi/SiCwasinvestigated.Anattemptwasmadetoclarifywhysilicaparticleshardlycodepositincomparisontosiliconcarbideparticles.ItwasfoundthatthepresenceofSiO2andSiCparticlesin¯uencesthemetaldepositionprocessindierentways.SiCpa

5、rticlesthatarebeingembeddedinthegrowingmetallayercauseanapparentdecreaseintheelectrodesurfacearea,probablyduetoblockingoapartofthesurfacebypartlyengulfedparticles.InthecaseofSiO2particles,whichembedinthemetalmatrixtoaverylimitedextent,noblockingwasobserved.Itwasfoundthatthepresenceofparticlesin

6、thesolutioncausesanapparentincreaseintheelectrodesurfacearea,probablyduetoincreasedsurfaceroughness.1.Introductioncodepositionforsystemsofde®nedhydrodynamics(e.g.,rotatingdiscelectrode).AnattempttodevelopaSolidparticlessuspendedinaplatingbathcanadheretopredictivemodelwasundertakenbyFransaeretal
