Considerableattentionhasbeenpaidtothedesignoflow-power,high-performanceSRAMs(StaticRandomAccessMemories)sincetheyareacriticalcomponentinbothhand-helddevicesandhigh-performancepr

3、ocessors.AkeyinimprovingtheperformanceofthesystemistouseanoptimumsizedSRAM.Inthisthesis,anSRAMcompilerhasbeendevelopedfortheautomaticlayoutofmemoryelementsintheASICenvironment.ThecompilergeneratesanSRAMlayoutbasedonagivenSRAMsize,inputbytheuser,witht

4、heoptionofchoosingbetweenfastvs.low-powerSRAM.ArraypartitioningisusedtopartitiontheSRAMintoblocksinordertoreducethetotalpowerconsumption.Experimentalresultsshowthatthelow-powerSRAMiscapableoffunctioningataminimumoperatingvoltageof2.1Vanddissipates17.
