1、AbstractWiththerobustintroductionofNewConceptEnglishinrecentyears,agrowingnumberofChinesestudentsandteacherspaidcloseattentiontoit,soitishighlynecessarytoconductacomprehensivestudyofthetranslationofEnglishtexttitlesfromtheNewConceptEnglish.WhenlearningeverysingletextintheNewConcept
2、English,learnerswillhaveaglimpseofthetitleanditstranslation.Sothetranslationforthetitleisfarmoreimportantthanweconcerned.ThisthesisaimstoanalyzethetranslationofEnglishtexttitlesfromthefunctionalperspectiveinthehopeofelaboratingtheapplicationareaofSkopostheorieandfindingaguidingtheo
3、ryfortexttitletranslation,andtryingtoworkdescriptivelytodiscovertheprinciplesunderlyingEnglishtexttitletranslation,whichisapurposeful,communicatingandinterculturalactivity.ItsultimatepurposeistoinducethereaderstostudythetextandarousetheirinterestsofstudyingEnglish.Anditmeanstoprodu
4、ceatargettexttitlewithdefinedfunctionsofinforming,persuadingandentertainingthetargetreaders,servingastheculturalmediumandcommunicatorandappealingtoreader’sinterests.AccordingtoSkopostheorie,translationstrategiesaredeterminedbythepurpose(Skopos)ofthetargettexts.Fivechaptersareconclu
5、ded.Anintroductiontothemotivation,theoreticalbasis,aims,methodologyanddatacollectingoftheresearchwillbefilledinChapterone.ChaptertwofocusesonthedefinitionandgenreofEnglishtextofNewConceptEnglish,thefunctionsandfeaturesoftexttitles,thenamingmethodsoftexttitlesaswellasthedifferencesb
6、etweenChinesetexttitlesandEnglishones.ChapterThreedealswiththetheoreticalframeworkwhichbeginswiththediscussiononthebackgroundoftheSkopostheorie,anditgivesthebasicconceptsofthetheory,andproceedsintotheinfluenceofSkopostheorieontranslation.Thefourthchapteristheremarkablebodyofthethes
