2、rAbstract.Thefingerprinthasbeenusedasbiometricsforuseridentificationandauthenticationbecauseofitscharacteristicslikeuniquenessinthatnotwofingerprintspairfromdifferentfingersisdefinitelyidenticalanditspermanence.Traditionalcomputer-aidedfingerprintidentificationorverificationsystemhasbeeninvolvingt
3、hecentraldatabaseoffingerprints.However,retainingthecentraldatabasecancausecriticalfingerprintleakage.Therefore,ithasbeenproposedtodecentralizethefingerprintintoeachstoragedevicesuchasasmartcard.Also,togainmaximumsecurityinthesystem,thecomputationofthefingerprintverificationaswellasthestoreofthefi
4、ngerprinthastobetakenplaceinthesmartcardinordertokeepfingerprintfrombeingstreamedintotheoutsideofthecard.WecallthesystemwiththismechanismMatch-on-Cardsystem.Inthispaper,weintroduceMatch-on-Cardsystemandexplainthefingerprintverificationalgorithmusingamulti-resolutionaccumulatorarraythatcanbeexecute
5、dinsucharestrictedenvironmentasasmartcard.1IntroductionBiometricshasbeenusedtoidentifyorverifyapersonowingtoseveralreasons.Itreliesonthepersonalbiologicalorbehavioralcharacteristics[1,3],Therefore,thereisnoconcernaboutbeinglost,stolen,orforgottenincontrasttothetraditionalmethods,i.e.PlNs,passwords
6、,IDcards.Also,usingbiometricstoidentifyapersoncaninherentlydifferentiatebetweenaverifiedpersonandafraudulentimposter.Examplesofbiometricsignsarefingerprint,face[2],iris[10],handvascularpattern[11]andspeech.Biometricsusedforpersonidentificationhastosatisfyfourrequirements,whichareuniversality,uniqu
7、eness,permanence,andcollectability[2].Fingerprintsaretheoldestbiometricsignofidentity.Theflowpatternofridgesinafingerprintisuniquetothepersoninthatnotwofingerprintspairfromdifferentfingersisdefinitelyidentical.In
