3、cterizedbyX-raydiffraction(XRD),transmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM),X-rayphotoelectronspectroscopy(XPS),andUV-visspectroscopy.XRDresultsshowedthatthedopingofCandNatomscouldsuppressthecrystalgrowthofTiO2,andtheeffectofCdopingwasmorepronouncedthanthatofNdoping.XPS,UV-visspectroscopy,andl

4、atticeparameteranalysisrevealedthatNatomscouldincorporateintothelatticeofanatasethroughsubstitutingthesitesofoxygenatoms,whilemostCatomscouldformamixedlayerofdepositedactivecarbonandcomplexcarbonatespeciesatthesurfaceofTiO2nanoparticles.ThephotocatalyticactivitiesofobtainedC-TiO2,N-TiO

5、2,andC-N-TiO2sampleswithdifferentCandNcontentswereevaluatedbymethylenebluedegradationundervisiblelightirradiation.ItwasfoundthatC-N-TiO2nanomaterialsexhibitedthehighestphotocatalyticactivity,whichcouldbeassignedtothesynergisticeffectofdopedCandNatoms.IntroductionN-TiO2latticeandthemech

6、anismofbandgapnarrowinghavebeenderived.Forexample,Asahietal.21proposedthatTitaniumdioxide(TiO2)isthemostwidelyusedphotocatalystsubstitutional-typedopingusingNwaseffectiveforthebandforthedecompositionofvariousorganicpollutantsbecauseofgapnarrowingofTiO2duetothemixingofN2pwithO2pitscheap

7、nessandnontoxicity,inadditiontoitshighactivity,statesinthevalencebandbasedonspin-restrictedlocaldensityopticalproperties,andchemicalstability.Thebandgapenergy22,23approximationcalculationsonanatase.AnotherviewpointofTiO2(3.0-3.2eV)requiresUVlightirradiation,andthusconfirmedthatinters
