3、epatternsceasetoexistandonlyasynchronous,aperiodicstatesareobserved.Wederiveself-consistencyequationstopredicttheprecisetemporalstructureofapatternfromthenetworkheterogeneity.Moreover,weshowhowtodesignheterogenouscouplingarchitecturestocreateanarbitraryprescribedpattern.PACSnumbers:05.45.
