3、hodofachievingdi®erentselectivitybasedonE-shapeddual-moderesonatorispresented.ThecharacteristicoftheE-shapeddual-moderesonatorisinvestigated.Thetechniqueofutilizingcapacitiveandinductiveinput-outputcross-couplingtogeneratetwoadjustabletransmissionzerosatstopbandisexploredintensively.Advantag
4、esofthistypeof¯lterarenotonlyitsdual-moderesonatorandminiaturization,butalsoitscontrollabletransmissionzeros.Thecouplingschemeispresentedtomodeltheoperationsofthese¯lters.Fourdual-modemicrostripBPFshavebeendesigned,fabricated,andmeasured.Boththesimulatedandmeasuredresultsarepresented.Theexem
5、plary¯ltersverifythefeasibilityofthenewdesignmethod.1.INTRODUCTIONTherapidevolutionofwirelesscommunicationsystemsrequirehighperformance,narrowbandpass¯lters(BPFs)havinghighselectivityandlowinsertionloss[1].Thedual-modemicrostripBPFisknowntohaveattractivefeaturessuchaseasierdesign,easiermanuf
6、acture,lowercost,smallersizeandlowerradiationloss,¯rstappearinginmicrostripstructuresbyWol®in1972[2].Sincethen,manydual-modeBPFswithimprovedelectricaland/orgeometricalfeatureshavebeeninvestigated[3{27].Amongthem,theE-shapedresonatorwasmodeledasadual-moderesonatorin[9].Rectangulardual-mode¯lt
