2、ofindividualsduringacrisissituationcaneasilybecomeoverwhelmed.Manualaccountabilitysystems,whicharethepredominantmethodinusetoday,areunreliable,pronetoerror,anddonotproviderealtimeinformationtothepeoplewhoneedthisinformationthemost.ThePersonnelAccountabilityandTrackingSystem(PATS)i
3、sasolutionthatwillimprovesituationalawarenessbyprovidingreal-timetrackingdatausingGPStechnology.PATSintegratesseveraltechnologiesthatmakethecapabilityofGPSavailableinscenarioswhereithashistoricallybeenunavailablesuchasunderwater,underground,andindoors.Theprojectteamwillserveasthel
4、eadsystemintegratorforPATSdevelopment.Theprimarycustomersforthissystemhavebeenidentifiedasthemilitaryandfederal,state,andlocalagenciesresponsibleforprovidingemergencyresponseservices.Expansioncustomershavebeenidentifiedasminesafety,merchantmarines,demolitions,oradditionalciviliani
5、ndustriesthatexposetheirworkforcetohazardoussituations.Furthergrowthopportunitiesincludethehealthcareandretirementhomeindustries.ThetechnicalapproachtodevelopingPATSconsistsofcreatingmodelsthatrepresenttheentiresystemusingtheSystemsModelingLanguage(SysML)andDepartmentofDefenseArch
6、itectureFramework(DoDAF).TheserepresentationsshowtherelationshipbetweeneachsystemcomponentaswellasdemonstratetheprocessesthatareconductedduringPATSoperations.AcomprehensiveSystemsRequirementSpecification(SRS)providestherequirementsthatwillbeneededtocreatethedetaileddesignforthesys
7、tem.UserinterfacemockupshavebeencreatedtoshowthescreensusedattheCommandCentertooverseetrackedassets.Researchconductedduringthecompetitoranalysisconfirmedthatcurrentsolutionsdonotprovidearobust,real-time,automated,andscalablesystemtoperformpersonneltrackingandaccounting.PATSwillfil
