3、railmaterialunderdifferentloadswereinvestigatedbyusingaJPM-1Brollingcontactfatiguetestingapparatus.ThefiniteelementsimulationsoftwareABAQUSWasusedtosimulateexperiment.Throughtheabovework,theresultsofpaperwereasfollowing.(1)Theseveredamagesonheavy-haulrailwereshownasfollowing:spallingdamageappeared
4、onthesurfaceofheavy-haulrail,andsidewearWasseeninneroftherail.Thehardnessanalysisofcrosssectionshowedthattheworkinghardeningonthetopandthesidewearregionofthedamagedrailmainlyfocusedonthesurfaceofmaterial.(2)Theseriousplasticdeformationappearedonthetopofthedamagedrail.Themacroscopicobliquecracks,wh
5、osepropagationformWasdominatedbythetransgranulargrowth,werefoundalongthedirectionofplasticflow.Therewereslightplasticdeformationandstrippingdamageonthesidewearregion.AndneitherplasticdeformationnormacroscopicobliquecracksWasfoundonthenoncontactregion.(3)Withtheincreaseoftheload,frictioncoefficient
6、instablerollingfrictionstagewouldincrease.Meanwhile,thewearrateofwheel/railspecimenswouldbeintensified.Accordingtothechangingtrendofwheelrailmaterialshardness,thethicknessofwheel/railplasticdeformationlayerwouldincreasewiththeloadincreasing.(4)Underthesameworkingcondition,thedepthofplasticdeformat
