1、AustralianQuarantineandInspectionServiceChangestoAQISdocumentationrequirementsfortheclearanceofimportedcargoThisnoticeistoadvisethatAQIShasrecentlyundertakenareviewofthedocumentaryrequirementsfortheclearanceofimportedcargo.Thepurposeofthereviewwastoclarifyandsimplifythe'rules'underwhich

2、documentsusedfortheclearanceofimportedcargowereeitheracceptableorunacceptabletoAQIS.Someofthechangeshavingmajorimpactsare:ChangetothetreatmentofPlywoodandVeneerpackagingTheAustralianQuarantineandInspectionService(AQIS)hasreviewedtheacceptanceofNewlyManufacturedPlywood/VeneerCertificates

3、forPlywoodandVeneerusedaspackagingmaterialinallimportedshipments.CurrentlyPlywoodandVeneerpackagingrequiresaNewlyManufacturedPlywood/VeneerCertificate,confirmingthatthepackaginghasnotbeenpreused,andisnew.Further,thepackagingmustbeshippedwithin21daysofmanufactureforplywoodandveneerfromFi

4、ji,Indonesia,Malaysia,Philippines,Singapore,Thailand,VanuatuandWesternSamoaand3monthsforPlywoodandVeneerfromallothercountriestobereleasedwithoutfurtherinterventionfromAQIS.AQIShasadoptedanewpolicyfortheacceptabletreatmentofPlywoodandVeneerusedaspackagingmaterial.Thefollowingrequirements

5、willbeintroducedfromthe1stofAugust2009.AllshipmentsenteredonorafterthisdaymustmeettheabovenewconditionswherePlywoodorVeneerpackagingisused.PlywoodandVeneerusedaspackagingmaterialwillrequiretobetreatedwithanAQISapprovedtreatmentpriortoimportorreleasefromQuarantine.Itwillnolongerbeaccepta

6、bletouseaNewlyManufacturedPlywoodProductsCertificate.TheISPM15standardsdonotapplytoPlywoodandVeneerthathasbeenusedaspackagingmaterial(e.g.palletsandcrates).AndassuchthesepackagingmaterialsrequiretobetreatedwithanAQISapprovedmethod/standardsuchasmethylbromideandsupportedbytheappropriatec

7、ertification/documentation.ThePackingDeclarationneedstobemarkedthattimberpackaginghasbeenused.Failuretocomplywiththeseconditionswillseeconsignmentseitherorderedforanapprovedtreatment,re-exportordestruction.WhereaPackingDeclarationindicatesthatthetimberusedinanimportshipmentisma
