4、theproduct.Thisreportdescribesanewmethodforstablevatdyeingofcottonknitfabricinabatch,especiallydeep-colourdyeing,usingamodifiedjetdyeingmachineoperatingwithouttheuseofnitrogengastopurgeoxygen.Beforedesigningthemechanicalsystemfordeep-colourdyeingwithvatdyes,wh
5、ichhasnotbeenpracticedcommerciallyuntilnow,preliminaryinformationondyediffusionincellulosicsubstrateswasobtainedusingthecellophanefilmrollmethod,bywhichdyeuptakeatthesurfaceandthediffusionbehaviourofthedyewithintherollweremeasuredquantitatively.Aswithotherdyei
6、ngprocesses,itisdesirableinvatdyeingthatthetemperaturebeashighaspossibleinordertoreducedyeingandprocessingtime.However,increasingthetemperaturetendstoresultinunevennessinthedyedfabric,resultinginvariousdefectsintheproduct.Thedyeingconditions,includingtheconcen
7、trationsofreducingagent,sodiumhydroxide,andtheweightratioofuseddyetofabric,wereexaminedbytestdyeinginanErlenmeyerflaskunderanitrogenatmosphere.Thepossibilitiesofloweringtheliquorratio,thedyeingtemperature,andthedurationofeachprocesswerealsoexaminedintheflaskex
