2、aytransportationdevelopmenthaspositiveeffectontheβconvergenceofeconomicgrowthofthefourth-tier,fifth-and-sixth-tiercitiesalongrailway,buthasnegativeeffectontheβconvergenceofeconomicgrowthofthefirst-and-second-tiercitiesalongrailway,andhaveuncertaineffectontheβconvergenceofthe
3、third-tiercities.Lastly,fromtheperspectiveofdifferenttrafficconditions,therailwaytransportationdevelopmenthavepositiveeffectontheβconvergenceofeconomicgrowthofthecitiesalongbothspeed-upandnon-speed-uprailwaylines,andthiseffectisstrongeronthecitiesalongspeed-uprailwaylines.Ac
4、cordingtothe"Long-termRailwayNetworkPlan(Revisedin2008)",thepapertrytopredicttheimpactofhigh-speedrailwaydevelopmentontheconvergenceofeconomicgrowthofcitiesalongrailwayduring2011to2020,andthencomparethisimpacttotheimpactbroughtbytherailwaytransportationdevelopmentduring1997-
5、2011.Theresultshowsthatthehigh-speedrailwaydevelopmentslowsdowntheβconvergencespeedofeconomicgrowthofcitiesalongtherailwayinwholenationfor10.71%,andthisnegativeeffectismoreseverethantheimpactbroughtbytherailwaytransportationdevelopment,andthenegativeimpactofhigh-speedrailway
6、ontheβconvergenceisstrongerintheearlystageofhigh-speedrailwaydevelopmentthanthetimethehigh-speednetworkcompleted.Fromtheperspectiveofregion,thehigh-speedrailwaydevelopmenthasnegativeeffectontheβconvergencespeedofeconomicgrowthofcitiesalongtherailwayineastregion,andtheβconver
7、gencespeedfallsdownfor0.3%,butthisnegativeeffectisweakerthantheeffectbroughtbytherailwaytransportationdevelopment.Inaddition,thisnegativewillbeweakerbythetimethehigh-speedrailwaynetworkcompleted.Fromtheperspectiveofcitygroup,thehigh-speedrailwaydevelopmentslowsdowntheβconver
