3、ofitsgovernancepatternaretoreadjusttheaccumulativesystemandsocialregulationmodeintheoriginalframeworkofthemarketeconomicsystems.Todealwiththeglobalizationandincreasinglyin-tensecompetitionandchallengesamongcities,citygovernmentgenerallyintroducesthegovernancepa
4、tternthatisusedbyenterprises,stressinghowtopromotethegrowthofurbaneconomy.Capitalaccumulationisoneofthemainpowerstoshapemodernurbanspace.Todealwiththechallengesofglobalization,sincethe1980s,conceptofspatialre-developmentofmarketoperationhasbeenstressed.Jointre-
5、developmentofspacebypublic-privatesectorshasbecomethebasicfeaturesofurbanrenewal.Thispaperdividesthewest-ernurbanrenewalpatternsasfollows:GrowthCoalition,GrantCoalitionandCommunityDevelopmentCor-porations.Anditevaluatestheeconomicandsocialperformanceofurbanspac
6、erenewal.Fromthreeimpor-tantperspectives,i.e.,theoryofunbalanceddevelopmentandspatialrevaluation,theoryofeconomic&socialstructurechangeandtheoryofpolicyorientation,thispapermakesadeepanalysisofdynamicmechanismofurbanspatialrenewalinthewest.Sincethe1980s,Chinaha
7、sbegunitsreformandopening-uptotheworld.Drivenbyglobalization,marketization,decentralizationandurbanization,thecompetitionhasbecomein-creasinglyintenseamongcitiesinChina.Localpublicfinancesignificantlydependsonthedevelopmentofurbanland.Withtheincreasinglytougher
