2、tures．ThisviewpointisprovedbyacomparativestudyoftwoversionsofGonewiththeWind．Therefore，wemaystatethatnecessarydomesticationatthelinguisticlevelandnecessaryforeignizationattheculturallevelformtheorganicwholeofthesetwostrategies，whichmarbetermeda‘‘hybridized'’strategy．Thi

3、sapproachisanattempttosettlethedebateovertheissueofdomesticationVS．foreignization．Thisthesisincludesthreechapters，inadditiontoaprefaceandaconclusion．ChapterOneinvolvesthebasicissuesofdomesticationandforeignization．Firstly,theconceptsofdomesticationandforeignizationarein

4、troduced，andthentwobasiclevelsatwhichthesestrategiesoperateareinvestigated，namely,thelinguisticlevelandtheculturallevel．ChapterTwosusveysthedebateovertheissueofdomesticationVS．foreignizationinchinaandthewest．Theviewpointsofrepresentivefiguresofthesetwostrategiesareanaly

5、zedandtheirrationalesdicussed．Thenbasedontheanalysis，thestrategyof“hybridization'’isproposed，namely,todomesticatelinguisticelementsandtoforeignizeculturalelements；andthenstartingfromthisprincipleoftranslation，hybridizationisprovedbynumerousexamples．Chapterthreefocuseson
