1、ObesityQuadruplestoNearlyOneBillioninDevelopingWorld  Thenumberofoverweightandobeseadultsinthedevelopingworldhasalmostquadrupledtoaroundonebillionsince1980,saysareportfromaUKthinktank.TheOverseasDevelopmentInstitutesaidoneinthreepeopleworldwidewasnowoverweightandurgedgovernmentstodom

2、oretoinfluencediets.  Themajorityofthisincreasewasseeninthedevelopingworld,particularlyincountrieswhereincomeswererising,suchasEgyptandMexico.TheODI'sFutureDietsreportsaysthisisduetochangingdietsandashiftfromeatingcerealsandgrainstotheconsumptionofmorefats,sugar,oilsandanimalproduce.

3、  UsingdatapublishedinPopulationHealthMetricslastyear,theresearcherslookedatchangingoverweightandobesityratesacrosstheregionsoftheworldandbyindividualcountry.  TheregionsofNorthAfrica,theMiddleEastandLatinAmericasawlargeincreasesinoverweightandobesityratestoalevelonaparwithEurope,aro

4、und58%.WhileNorthAmericastillhasthehighestpercentageofoverweightadultsat70%,regionssuchasAustralasiaandsouthernLatinAmericaarenownotfarbehindwith363%.ThegreatestgrowthinoverweightpeopleoccurredinsoutheastAsia,wherethepercentagetripledfromalowerstartingpointof7%to22%.  Amongindividual

5、countries,thereportfoundthatoverweightandobesityrateshadalmostdoubledinChinaandMexico,andrisenbyathirdinSouthAfricasince1980.ManycountriesintheMiddleEastalsohadahighpercentageofoverweightadults.  Oneofthereportauthors,SteveWiggins,saidtherewerelikelytobemultiplereasonsfortheincreases

6、."Peoplewithhigherincomeshavetheabilitytochoosethekindoffoodstheywant.Changesinlifestyle,theincreasingavailabilityofprocessedfoods,advertising,mediainfluences...haveallledtodietarychanges."  Tocombattherisingtideofobesity,Mr.Wigginsrecommendsmoreconcertedpublichealthmeasuresfromgover
