4、lectonourexperiencetodiscusssomeimportantaspectsofsuccessfullyadoptinginformationtechnologyingovernmentagenciesinordertoreplicatetheminthenewFoodStampproject.1.IntroductionIn[1],wefirstintroducedthelong-standingprojectthatisinter-disciplinarybetweensocialworkandcompute

5、rscienceattheUniversityofNorthCarolinaatChapelHill(UNC-CH)withthecollaborationoftheNorthCarolinaDepartmentofHealthandHumanServices(NCDHHS).Thepapergaveabroadoverviewofthecollaborationwithbriefhighlightsoftwoaccomplishmentsfromtheproject–thedynamicwebsitethatprovidesman

6、agementassistanceforWorkFirstandanewmethodtoanalyzesequentialdata,ApproxMAP(APPROXimateMultipleAlignmentPatternmining).ApproxMAPcandetectcommonpatternsofwelfareservicesgivenovertime.Thedynamicwebsitewasalsoshow-casedatthedemoprogramattheDGOconferencein2003[2].Basedonou

7、rprevioussuccessinourWorkFirstproject,theNCDHHSandUNC-CHhaveextendedthecollaborationtoworkonasimilarwebsitetodisseminateinformationontheFoodStampprograminNorthCarolina.Inparticular,theJordanInstitutewillbeprovidingassistanceintheevaluationofchangestotheFoodStampemploym
