5、themine.Thesewaterrunoffsthroughthefaultandschistosityplanesoftheenclosingrockmassgiverisetosaltprecipitationovertime.Adaptingthismineandturningitintoamuseumhavemeantadecreaseinrelativeindoorshumidityandanincreaseintemperature.Thesevariationshavecausedr

6、ocks,whichwerestableintheoriginalconditions,toincreasetheirrateofphysico-chemicalweatheringduetothepolycyclicsupergenealterationofthemetalsulfidestheycontain.Theresultingreleaseofsulfatesintothesolutionandtheirsubsequentprecipitationassingleanddoublesal

7、tefflorescencecauseshaloclasty,deterioratingtherock’smechanicalpropertiesanddiminishingthestructuralstabilityoftheoperation.Thispaperpresentstheresultsofcharacterizingthesupergenemineralphasesofsaltefflorescenceintherockbedenclosinganundergroundsulfidem
