4、animals,whichhasputthewildanimalpopulationindanger.Twospecialgovernmentprojectsarealsounderway.Thefirstproject,awaterandsoilconservationproject,wassetupin1989.Thisprojectresultedinfarmersreplacingtheircropswithtreesorgrass.Ithasalreadybeenasuccessbecauseithashelpedimpr
5、ovethelocalenvironmentandthelandaroundtheriver.Thesecondprojectincludesnaturereservesforwhite-flagdolphins,oneoftherarestanimalsintheworld.Thenumberofwhite-flagdolphinsinChinahasdroppedbecauseofpollutionintheYangtzeRiver.Thewhite-flagdolphinwaslastseenseveralyearsago,t
6、houghscientistsarestillhopefulthattheanimalhassurvived.WestillhavealongwaytogotosolvealltheproblemsinregardtotheYangtzeRiver.However,peoplehavefinallyrealizedthatitistheirresponsibilitytoprotectthisgreatriver.Becauseofthis,thesituationontheYangtzeRiverisimproving.Theef
