3、geandtheirself-perception,theyconfirmedthefollowingthreehypotheses:1)NSandNNSEnglishteachersaredifferintermsoftheirteachingbehaviors2)Thesedifferencesinteachingpracticearemainlyduetotheirdifferinglevelsoflanguageproficiency3)Theirknowledgeofthesediffer
4、encesaffectstheNNSteacher’s‘self-perceptionandteachingattitudes.’Theyfoundthatnon-NESTsacknowledgetheirdistinguishedimportantroleasanon-NESTintheEnglisheducation;though,theyhaveapoorerself-imageduetotheirawarenessofEnglish-languagedeficiency.Theysugges
5、tthat‘frequentexposuretoauthenticnativelanguageenvironmentsandproficiency-orientedin-servicetrainingactivities’mayimprovetheirdifficultiesinthetargetedlanguage,anditwillleadtobuildinguptheirself-confidence.Samimy&Brutt-Griffler(1999)appliedtheapproacho
6、fReves&Medgyes(1994)tothesurveyoftheself-perceptionsofNNSgraduatestudentsmajoringinTESOL.TheparticipantsperceivedadifferencebetweenNESTsandnon-NESTsintheirteaching11behavior,whichwasconsistentwiththeresultsoftheformerstudy;however,theyconsideredthatwhe
7、thershe/heisanativeornon-nativeisnotamatterforsuccessfulteachingEnglish,andothersocioculturalfactorscanbedecisivefactors,instead.Theformerstudyissignificantinsurveyingthedifficultiescommonlysharedwithnon-NESTsfromvariousbackgrounds.Thelatterstudyisalso
