2、acomparativestudyofEzraPound’sandLuXun’sunfluenttranslation.Unfluenttranslationeschewsafluentstrategyinordertoreproduceinthetranslationwhateverfeaturesoftheforeigntextabuseorresistdominantculturalvaluesinthesourcelanguage(Vuneti1995:24).BothEzraPoundandLuXunareamongtheimportanttranslatorswhohavee

3、mployedunfluentstrategyintheirtranslatingpractice.Thecomparisonbetweentheirunfluenttranslationwillfocusonthreeaspects—thecausesoftheirunfluenttranslation,thespecificmethodsusedintheirunfluenttranslationandtheinfluenceoftheirunfluenttranslation.Byemployingunfluenttranslatingstrategy,bothPoundandLu

4、Xunsoughttofreethereaderoftranslation,aswellasthetranslator,fromtheculturalconstraintsthatordinarilygoverntheirreadingandwriting.PoundhadhopedtofreethereadersandtranslatorsfromtheconstraintsofstiffanddecadentlanguagestyleofVictorianpoems.LuXunwantedtosetthereadersfreefromtheimpreciseandsloppyChin

5、eseathistime.Intheirunfluenttranslation,PoundandLuXunusedsimilartranslatingmethods.Theytriedtopreservetheformorlanguagefeaturesoftheoriginaltexts,sotheychoseextremeliteraltranslationandevenword-for-wordtranslation.BothPound’sandLuXun’sunfluenttranslationcausedgreatchangeinliteratureandposedchalle
